After 3 + months of being too busy I have finally re-emerged into the blogging world.
I am excited to surf through all of my favorite blogs to find out what everyone's been up to!
As for our family, we started looking for a house early this year and in April finally found one. We closed on May 7th and moved over the following few days ( I HATE moving!) Anyone who knows me well knows that I love old things...especially old houses. I have always loved the 40's and 50's era houses, but knew that an old house comes with old problems! When we found this house the owners told us that they had re-done a majority of the plumbing, the kitchen, the bathrooms and much more, so we were very excited to finally find a vintage house with a lot of updates. This particular house is on the National Registry of Historic Places, which is a fun fact. Another fun fact is that the architect based the design of his houses on Frank Lloyd Wright's Ranch House. The architect also sat the houses at an angle to preserve their view (so that they weren't looking directly into their neighbor's houses!) The kids are really adjusting well and are excited about the big change!
Up the south side of the house is a flowering wisteria vine, which we LOVE! This spring a Robin made her nest in the wisteria and from the inside of the house we could watch her baby robins ~ until last week when they "flew the coop" (literally!)
The kitchen was a big selling point. They put a new kitchen in in '08, so we didn't have to do anything to it (Hooray!) I love having windows in the kitchen, especially after my old house has NO windows in the kitchen!
I'll have to post more photos of the inside some other time...We live one block from the river/walkway. We love being so close and go on many evening family walks. It's a great place to run, too!

Love the house! People pictures, people pictures, people pictures!
That is one of my mostest favoritetest neighborhoods in Richland. Don and I will sometimes go for a drive through that area because the houses are so beautiful, and so lovingly restored and maintained. Next time I will look for your house in particular.
Congrats!!!! I love it. Looks so cute. Love old houses too, kinda miss that and want to add stuff to this house to have that feel.
Yeah, man I was wondering if you would ever post again. I need to now come visit to see what it looks like with your stuff on the walls
SUPER cute Nicolette. Now I just need to come see it in person. Soon my friend . . . very soon!
That is great! Congrats on the new house!
Nicole--Welcome Back! I missed you! Your house is adorable. I can't wait to see more pictures of the inside after you've given it your personal touch. I love old houses, too. We have a cape cod from the 1940's that we've had a lot of fun fixing up in the last three years. We are actually moving to Colorado this month for Todd's new job. We are listing our house and I made a little house blog to help sell the house. If you want to check out pictures of our beloved little home, the address is www.522austinstreet.blogspot.com
I hope you are having a great summer!
